AAHSA Sends Letter to CMS About Medicare Reimbursement of Oxygen Services

12/1/2008 - We've sent a letter to Kerry Weems, acting administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), urging the agency to delay its proposed rule that would severely limit reimbursement to medical equipment suppliers who service the equipment after a beneficiary has had it for 36 months. Hurricane Gustav and Ike Waivers Expiring

12/1/2008 - The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that emergency guidance for skilled nursing facility (SNF) services will end in the states of Mississippi and Alabama on Nov. 29, in Texas on Dec. 10, and in Louisiana on Dec. 12. In September, following hurricanes Gustav and Ike, CMS issued the temporary emergency guidance, which waived the three-day prior hospital stay and the requirement to end an existing Medicare benefit period before renewing SNF coverage for all beneficiaries who were evacuated, transferred, or dislocated as a result of the hurricanes.
